Ethiopia Green Launches Landmark $600M Project to Revolutionize Dairy and Agri-Food Sector
October 21, 2025
ADDIS ABABA – Ethiopia Green, in partnership with its shareholders Ethiopian Investment Holdings (EIH) and Asset Green Limited, has officially launched a transformative $600 million integrated dairy and commercial farming project. The project is a cornerstone of Ethiopia Green's mission to build an advanced, inclusive, and sustainable agri-food system.
The first phase will establish a world-class, technology-driven dairy farming and processing operation. This includes the development of 15,000 hectares for specialized animal feed farming, supporting a modern herd of 13,000 dairy cows.
"This investment is a clear signal of our commitment to transforming Ethiopia's agricultural landscape," said a spokesperson for Ethiopia Green. "By building an integrated value chain, from animal feed to milk processing, we are not only ensuring high-quality production but also creating a scalable model for national food security."
This initiative aligns directly with the nation's "Yelemat Tirufat" (Bounty of the Basket) program, which has seen remarkable growth in the national dairy sector. By leveraging technology-driven innovation and sustainable practices, Ethiopia Green is poised to become a key player in meeting the rising demand for nutritious dairy products in Ethiopia.
Beyond the Harvest: How Ethiopia Green is Championing Sustainable and Regenerative Practices

As Ethiopia makes a strategic national shift towards agroecology and climate-resilient agriculture, Ethiopia Green is embedding these principles at the core of its operations. Our "Sustainable and Regenerative Practices" pillar is not just a goal; it's a fundamental part of our development approach.
On our 15,000-hectare farm, we are moving beyond conventional methods. We are actively implementing advanced water conservation techniques, such as drip and sprinkler irrigation, to maximize efficiency in our animal feed cultivation. Our soil health strategy focuses on long-term vitality, reducing reliance on chemical inputs and working to sequester carbon.
"For us, sustainability means creating a system that is productive for today and resilient for tomorrow," said the head of farm operations. "We are integrating smart technology to monitor resources in real-time, ensuring every drop of water is used effectively and our land remains fertile for generations to come."
By leading with sustainable practices, Ethiopia Green is not only building a successful agri-food system but also contributing to a healthier environment and a more resilient national food supply.
